On the occasion of the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, our Embassy organized a national day reception at the Ljubljana National Gallery.

The event was attended by Mr. Tibor Navracsics, Hungary’s Minister for Regional Development, who presented Hungarian state decorations to two Slovenian recipients. Mr. Klemen Miklavič, Mayor of Nova Gorica received the Gold Cross of Merit in recognition of his efforts to erect the Nova Gorica central monument dedicated to Hungarian soldiers fallen during the World War One battles along the Soča river. Mr. Anton Balažek, former Mayor of Lendava received the Officer’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit for his efforts to protect the rights of the Hungarian National Community in Slovenia, including the right to use their mother tongue.
