On the 8th of March 2017 Ambassador Edit Szilágyiné Bátorfi paid a visit to the city of Velenje where she met with the Mayor Mr Bojan Kontič.
The purpose of the visit was to meet the city’s leaders and gather information on the projects that are being successfully carried out by the Velenje Municipality. The Ambassador and the Mayor also discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the city and Hungarian institutions. The Ambassador highlighted culture as one of the main areas of potential cooperation. She especially mentioned the Pippi Longstocking Festival, one of the most popular children’s festivals in Slovenia which takes place every September in Velenje, pointing out that the Ljubljana Balassi Insitute could take part in the Festival’s programme.
After meeting with the Mayor the Ambassador also visited Gorenje, Slovenia’s biggest manufacturer of home appliances.
