Dušan Snoj receives Hungarian Order of Merit

Dr János Ader, Hungarian President of the Republic awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to Mr Dušan Snoj, former Slovenian Consul General in Monošter/Szentgotthárd. The presentation ceremony took place on the 23rd of November 2016 at our Embassy.

Dr János Ader, Hungarian President of the Republic awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to Mr Dušan Snoj, former Slovenian Consul General in Monošter/Szentgotthárd. The presentation ceremony took place on the 23rd of November 2016 at our Embassy.

Dušan Snoj acted as the Slovenian Consul General in Monošter/Szentgotthárd between 3 October 2011 and 2 October 2015. During this time he represented the interests of the Slovenian state, its citizens and its companies in the Vas and Zala County. Before becoming Consul General, Mr Snoj was posted as Slovenia’s Ambassador to Russia and he also served as Diplomatic Adviser under Slovenian President Dr Danilo Türk. As Consul General Mr Snoj helped protect the identity of the Slovenian national community living in the Vas County. He strived to strengthen Hungarian-Slovenian relations in the field of economy, culture and education, as well as cross-border cooperation. He was one of the initiators of the EGTC. He served the interests of both nations by (co-)organizing a number of forums and conferences dedicated to the strengthening Hungarian-Slovenian economic cooperation. He supported the development of cross-border cooperation and made efforts to ensure efficient drawing of EU funds needed to realise the countries’ common plans in the field of economic and regional development.
