On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian doctor and scientist Ignaz Semmelweis, his bust was unveiled at the park in front of the University Medical Center (UKC) Maribor on 28 November 2018.
The bust was inaugurated by dr. Árpád Mészáros, Deputy State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Human Capacities, prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak, President of the Alma Mater Europaea, prof. dr. László Rosivall, President of the Semmelweis Commemorative Commission and prof. dr. Vojko Flis, Director of UKC Maribor. The event was also attended by Ambassador Edit Szilágyiné Bátorfi and Mrs. Klavdija Kobal Štraus, Director General of the Long-term Care Directorate at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia.
