On the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, our Embassy organised a national day reception attended by representatives of the Slovenian government, the diplomatic corps and the Hungarian community living in Slovenia.

The reception, which took place on 20 October 2017, began with a speech by Ambassador Edit Szilágyiné Bátorfi. After the speech, the Ambassador presented Hungarian state decorations to the two guests of honour – Mr. Jože Gričar, professor emeritus at the University of Maribor, who received the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit in recognition of his efforts to strengthen Hungarian-Slovenian cross-border relations and develop macro-regional cooperation, and Mr. Dejan Sluga, the Director of the Photon Center for Contemporary Photography, who received the Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit for his decades-long efforts to promote contemporary Hungarian fine-art photography in Slovenia.
