At the invitation of the Cultural Institute of the Hungarian National Minority and the József Attila Hungarian Cultural Association, a number of Hungarians participated in the traditional Krn Lake memorial hike, which took place 12 November 2022, in honor of the 104th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Krn and its surroundings are an important memorial place for Hungarians, since several Hungarian troops fought there during World War I. After the central commemoration held on the shores of the Krn Lake at the altitude of 1394 m, the attendees moved on to the nearby Hungarian Cross, erected in memory of the members of the Austro-Hungarian Army, who were buried by an avalanche. The commemoration at the cross was attended by the Hungarian Ambassador in Ljubljana Andor Dávid and the Defence Attaché Colonel László Kaputa. After the Ambassdor’s speech and the priest’s blessing Hungarian, Slovenian and Italian attendees placed wreaths at the cross.
