On 11 November 2017 the 18th memorial hike to the Krn Lake took place in the Julian Alps.
The traditional annual hike was especially significant this year, since we are celebrating not only the centenary of the First World War, but also the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Caporetto. Despite bad weather, several hundred people attended the commemoration held at the lake, among them members of the Slovenian diplomatic corps, as well as military representatives. The event was also attended by Slovenian Minister of Defence Ms. Andreja Katič, who held a speech and placed a wreath at the Hungarian Cross, which stands close to the lake. Our Embassy’s wreath was placed by Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Gombos, Regional Defence, Military and Air Attaché.
