On March 23 2022, the 18th session of the Hungarian-Slovenian Joint Commission for Monitoring the Agreement on Ensuring the Special Rights of the Hungarian National Community in Slovenia and the Slovenian National Minority in the Republic of Hungary took place in Budapest.

The Hungarian delegation was led by Ferenc Kalmár, Ministerial Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy Development of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and co-chair of the commission, while the Slovenian delegation was led by Helena Jaklitsch, Minister for Slovenes Abroad of the Republic of Slovenia and co-chair of the commission. After the talks, the delegations adopted minutes, containing recommendations to both sides for measures that will contribute to the survival and improve the situation of both national minorities, the Hungarian minority in Slovenia and the Slovenian minority in Hungary.
